Here are a couple of design routes I’m proud to show, these went into an pitch for Old Kent Road regeneration campaign with Corporate Context. The brief was for the identity to have aspects that are versatile, sustainable and community friendly, complement the existing brown and teal identity, stand alone and convey excitement and be energetic. The general campaign is to rejuvenate the area in terms of new homes, jobs, transport, to benefit schools, health services and the community and cultural offer over an extended time period.
The first route typographically forms a friendly, smiling, winking face from ‘Old Kent Road’. The first three letters form the eyes and nose whilst the strap forms the neck, this is to bring across the personality and human side, with the community being the main benefactors of the project. The second route focuses on the location by using a simplified ‘K’ pointing to the ‘O’, being the heart of the area. It also emphasises ‘OK’ as in, ‘we are OK’ with a strap that hints at what’s new coming into the area.
